Einige Studien von San Carlos de Apoquindo

"Yesterday I did some searches about "San Carlos de Apoquindo", also known as "Los Dominicos" (cf. Simonetti 1989, Oikos 56(3): 309-318). It is a town about 20 km east of Santiago, near the foothill of the Andes and at the edge of the Santiago's suburbs. And it is also the name of a popular study area in Chile and nearby is the Universidad de los Andes, also a well known stadium "Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo" is located here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estadio_San_Carlos_de_Apoquindo

I posted here a plant list some years ago, I found in a Spanish mailinglist: http://www.degupedia.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8903#8903 "

"Some examples:

  • In the 1980es some researchers including Jaksic, Yañez and Fuentes did some researches about predation, diet and ecology of predators (foxes, raptors, owls etc. studies were mainly published in the Journal of Mammalogy and The Auk), but also some researches about degus, wild (introduced) rabbits and other small mammals.
  • In 1989 Iriate published results of a long-term study in the Journal of Mammalogy
  • Simonetti published in the late 1980es and 1990es some studies about usage of microhabitats and predation risks of small mammals
  • Pavez and colleagues investigated the dynamics of predation on introduced wild rabbits and how the chilean raptors learnt to use this new food source during few decades (Pavez et al. 1992, J Rap Res 26: 27-32)
  • Lardies and Bozinovic did some researches about woodlice (Porcellio laevis) they collected here. The topics were mainly ecological questions like reproduction, diet etc."
